The English Department participates in Hostos’ culture of assessing institutional effectiveness and student learning. The department is represented on the college-wide General Education Committee and the college-wide assessment task force. Departmental representatives from these groups work together with faculty members to facilitate individual course assessment on a 5-year assessment cycle calendar. Faculty representatives also help ensure that the department’s course offerings are routinely assessed for the college’s General Education Core Competencies.
